VEVAY, Ind. — The Switzerland County Pacers gave their home crowd — and especially the community’s young football players — plenty to cheer about Friday night, rolling past Edinburgh 56-3 on Youth Night at Switzerland County High School. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak for the Pacers and gave the team its second win of the season. Switzerland County wasted little time taking control. The Pacers scored 36 points in the opening quarter, then added 14 more in the second quarter to take a commanding 50-3 lead at halftime. Edinburgh was held scoreless after its second-quarter field goal. The Pacers finished the night with 252 total yards, including 183 on the ground and 69 through the air. Switzerland County also picked up 14 first downs while limiting Edinburgh to just three and minus-one yard of total offense. The Pacers forced five turnovers, including four interceptions. Senior quarterback Aiden Mosley completed 4 of 7 passes for 64 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 16 yards and two scores. Masin Stroud was a major factor throughout the night, catching three passes for 51 yards and three touchdowns. Stroud also added an interception return for a touchdown, giving him four total touchdowns on the evening. The Pacers also received a strong performance on the ground from Haiden Rohrbach, who carried eight times for 81 yards and a 28-yard touchdown. Brackston Sullivan added 76 yards on just three carries, including a 53-yard touchdown run, while Mosley accounted for two rushing touchdowns. Defensively, Switzerland County kept the pressure on all night. Stroud and Mason Hempfling each recorded an interception, while the Pacers' defense combined for several tackles for loss and limited Edinburgh to just six passing yards and minus-seven rushing yards. The final touchdown came in the fourth quarter when Rohrbach broke loose for his 28-yard scoring run. For Coach Ryan Jesop, however, the significance of the night went beyond the final score. “We really needed a game like this,” Jesop said. “Our kids needed to experience that winning feeling again. We've gone through some tough weeks, and we've talked a lot about continuing to work, continuing to believe and continuing to get better. To come out tonight and play the way we did was good for our kids and good for their confidence.” Jesop also pointed to the team's preparation during the week as an important factor in Friday night's performance. “We had a really good week of practice, and I thought our upperclassmen did a much better job of providing leadership and setting the tone for everybody else,” Jesop said. “That's something we've been challenging them to do. Our younger guys are looking to those older guys, and when our seniors and juniors lead the way with their effort and their attitude, it makes a difference. I thought we saw that this week, and it carried over onto the field Friday night.” The Pacers will look to build on the momentum when they return to action next Friday for homecoming festivities against South Decatur.
