Switzerland County Athletics

Six Switzerland County student-athletes spent the day at the 2026 IHSAA Student Leadership Conference at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Thursday. Throughout the day, students heard from speakers, toured IMS, participated in leadership activities, and took part in the Rule the Road program. They practiced skills like parallel parking, seat belt safety, and safe driving decision-making, while also getting to experience some of the most iconic parts of IMS, including kissing the bricks and taking a lap around the track. We were told an IndyCar makes 1 lap around the IMS 2.5 mile oval in 39 seconds. Our time-lapse did it in 36. Pretty sure we’re ready for the Indy 500. It was a long day, but a great one.
